Who we are
Peep is operated by Foodiaz LLC, an Oregon limited liability company. When this policy says "we," "us," or "our," we mean Foodiaz LLC. When it says "you," we mean the parent or guardian who creates a Peep account.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the Peep mobile app (the "Service"), how we use it, who we share it with, and what choices you have.
If you have questions about this policy at any time, email us at info@getpeep.app.
Who uses Peep
Peep is designed to be set up and managed by parents and guardians, and used in everyday life by their children. We are aware and intend that children, including children under 13, will use Peep through profiles their parent creates. We have built our data practices around that reality.
You must be at least 18 years old to create a Peep account. Children do not create their own accounts and do not enter their own personal information into Peep. The parent enters everything on the child's behalf.
What we collect
Information you give us about yourself (the parent)
- Account information: your email address and a password (or a sign-in token if you use Sign in with Apple).
- Subscription status: whether you have an active subscription, when it renews, and which plan you're on. We learn this from Apple's App Store, which handles your payment. We never see your credit card or Apple ID password.
- Support communication: if you email us with a question or issue, we keep that email so we can respond and follow up.
Information you give us about your child
- The child's first name and age (or birth year), provided by you when you add a child profile.
- The chore list you build for that child, including chore names, point or minute values, and how often each chore repeats.
- Chore completion data: when your child marks a chore done, when you approve it, and how many minutes were earned.
- Streak and Nest Egg progress: how many days in a row your child has hit their goal, and how many bonus minutes are saved up.
Children do not enter any of this themselves. You enter the chore list, you enter the child's name and age, and you approve chore completions. The child's interaction with Peep is limited to tapping chores done and viewing their earned minutes.
Information collected automatically
- Device information: the type of device (iPhone, iPad), iOS version, and a non-personal device identifier used to keep you logged in.
- App usage information: when the app is opened, which screens are viewed, and basic crash and error reports. We use this to fix bugs and make Peep better.
What we do NOT collect
- We do not collect your child's location.
- We do not collect your child's contacts, photos, browsing history, or messages.
- We do not collect names of apps your child uses on their device. Apple's Screen Time and Family Controls system does the work of pausing apps when time runs out, and Apple keeps that data on the device. Peep does not see it.
- We do not access the camera or microphone.
- We do not collect payment information. Apple handles all subscription billing.
How we use your information
We use the information described above only to:
- Run the Peep app: keep you logged in, sync chore data, calculate earned minutes, and unlock screen time at the right moments.
- Send you account-related emails (a password reset, a subscription receipt, or a service announcement). We do not send marketing emails to children. We will only send marketing emails to parents if you opt in, and you can opt out anytime.
- Fix bugs and improve the app, using anonymous crash reports and aggregated usage trends.
- Respond to your support requests.
- Comply with our legal obligations, such as tax and accounting requirements.
We do not use your information, or your child's information, for advertising, marketing to children, profiling, or selling to third parties. Ever.
Who we share your information with
We use a small number of trusted service providers to run Peep. These providers process data on our behalf, under strict agreements that limit how they can use it. They do not get to use your data for their own purposes.
- Google (Firebase): our backend platform. Firebase Authentication handles sign-in. Firestore stores your account data and chore data. Servers are located in the United States. Firebase is configured to operate in a privacy-protective mode for Peep, and Google has committed to COPPA compliance for Firebase services.
- Apple: processes all payments and subscription transactions through the App Store. Apple does not share your payment details with us. Apple's Family Controls framework runs on the kid's device to enforce screen time; that framework keeps app-usage data on the device.
We will also share information if we are required to by law (such as a valid subpoena or court order), or if we ever sell or merge our business. If a sale or merger happens, we will notify you and the new owner will be bound by this policy.
Children's privacy and COPPA
The U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) places special obligations on services that collect information from children under 13. Because Peep is designed to be used by children, we follow these rules.
- We only collect child information that you (the parent) provide. The child does not create their own account, does not enter their own data, and is not asked to provide any personal information.
- The information we collect about a child (first name, age, chore activity, streaks) is used only to operate the Peep service for your family. We do not use it for advertising, profiling, or marketing.
- We do not share child information with third parties except for the service providers listed above (Google and Apple), who are bound by contracts limiting their use of that data.
- You can review your child's information at any time inside the Peep app. You can delete it by removing the child profile in the app, or by emailing us at info@getpeep.app.
- We will never require a child to disclose more information than is reasonably necessary in order to use Peep.
If you believe we have collected information from your child that you did not authorize, please email us at info@getpeep.app and we will delete it promptly.
How long we keep information
We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. If you cancel your subscription but don't delete your account, we keep the data so that resubscribing later works smoothly. If you delete your account, we delete your data and your child's data from our active systems within 30 days. Backups containing your data are overwritten on a rolling basis and fully removed within 90 days.
We may retain a small amount of information longer if we are legally required to (for example, billing records for tax purposes), but only the minimum necessary to meet that legal obligation.
How we protect information
We use industry-standard practices to protect your data:
- All connections between the Peep app and our servers use TLS encryption.
- Data stored on Firebase is encrypted at rest by Google.
- Account access requires authentication. We never store your password in plain text.
- Only the developer of Peep has access to production data, and only when needed to fix issues or respond to support requests.
No system is perfectly secure. If we ever discover a breach that affects your information, we will notify you as required by law.
Your choices and rights
You have control over your information.
- Access and review: You can see all account and child data inside the Peep app.
- Edit: You can change account details, child profiles, and chore lists at any time inside the app.
- Delete: You can delete a child profile inside the app. To delete your entire account, email info@getpeep.app and we will process the deletion within 30 days.
- Export: If you'd like a copy of your data, email us and we'll send it to you within 30 days.
- Cancel your subscription: Subscriptions are managed by Apple. You can cancel anytime in iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions.
If you live in California, the EU, the UK, or another region with specific privacy laws (such as the CCPA, CPRA, or GDPR), you may have additional rights. Email us and we will honor any rights that apply to you under your local law.
International users
Peep is operated from the United States. Our servers and our service providers' servers are located in the United States. If you use Peep from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to and processed in the U.S. By using Peep, you consent to this transfer.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make a meaningful change, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, will notify account holders by email. Continued use of Peep after a change means you accept the updated policy.
